Having returned from the Antipodes on 22 August, normal service is resumed here.
The Garden Festival had been running through the summer and was rated a great success, so I decided to have a quick look before it closed.

NELGP and SRPS organised a trip from Edinburgh to Fort William to bring back LNER 2005 which had been working "The Jacobite" between Fort William and Mallaig through the summer. I don't know where I joined the trip (I might have stayed with Dave the night before and joined in Edinburgh) but I got off at Westerton on the way back.
2005 is the sole survivor of the K1 class designed by Thompson and Peppercorn for the LNER just after WWII. 70 were built, this one by the North British Loco Works in Glasgow and delivered to British Railways in 1949 after nationalisation. Its working life, therefore, was in BR livery as 62005 but when restored for preservation, its owners decked it out in traditional LNER livery as seen here. It has since been restored to its BR appearance.

A photostop at Roy Bridge. There appears to be a hosepipe dangling from the bridge so probably taking on water as well.

There was a problem with the running gear on the loco support coach so we abandoned it at Tulloch.

A week in a cottage at Carbost overlooking Loch Harport on Skye. Who was there? Myself, Calum, Larry, Richard, maybe Dave & Ken. It appears I took a train to Crianlarich on the Saturday where someone picked me up and we stopped for lunch at Onich. I don't know what happened on Sunday and Monday, presumeably the weather was inclement, perhaps we hit the high spots of Dunvegan and Portree, but there seems to have been some improvement on Tuesday and we went up Am Basteir (meaning obscure) from Sligachan.

Wednesday was either a rest day or inclement weather again, so we visited the Talisker Distillery. On Thursday, the weather improved and we attacked "the one on the right of Am B." (Bruach na Frithe - The brae of the deer forest)

And then it was off to Canada for five months.
And on my return, I don't know why there are only two photos of this momentous occasion.
